~ ! ~ Ongoing Writing Challenge ~ ! ~
Subject:
"A Wyn Lit of Canadian Untruths"
-
The most unique
Untruths
written from the subjects below will be used in a
collection separate from Confabulation. We are hoping to
create an 8.5” x 11”, soft cover, coffee-table book with
pen and ink artwork. The Untruths are akin to what we
commonly refer to as legends, but they are not legends
in the sense that we understand the word.
Legends have
somewhat of a flavour to them; something mystical and
wondrous. The Untruths we're asking for should, of
course, have the same type of flavour, but they must be
unique - please don't just take a legend that
doesn't belong to you and twist it around to make it
your own. we want you to create your own Untruth and
present it as truth!
-
We are accepting pen and ink artwork (artwork that will
print well in black and white) to go with the
Untruths
– for those of you whose creativity does not end with
the written word or those of you that know someone who
can do artwork that will enhance the writing. Only one
piece of artwork per legend will be accepted. Artwork
must be submitted via email and by request only. No
unsolicited artwork attachments will be opened.
-
When a winning subject has been chosen from the entries,
it will be removed from the list and a new one will take
its place. In other words, there will be only one
winning
Untruth
per subject.
-
Although the majority of the subjects are
nature-oriented, please refrain from using ‘baby talk’
if you use animal characters and ‘preachy’ material if
you are teaching a lesson in your
Untruth.
-
A list of nature-oriented subjects and an updated list
of made-up words used in previous Wyn Lit 24’s will be
available at all times, until we have approximately 100
unique
and exciting
Untruths.
-
There is no 24 hour deadline for this challenge
– this is an ongoing challenge and it will last for the
duration until we have 100 unique
Untruths
for the collection.
Untruths
should not be submitted as entries the 24 writing
contests – they are a separate contest.
-
There is no limit to how many entries you can submit
throughout the duration of the challenge.
-
Each
Untruth
will only have 2 full pages in the book, including
artwork. This format will limit the
word count
to:
750 minimum
to
1000 maximum
without exception.
-
The single most important thing to remember in this
challenge is to make your
Untruth
UNIQUE. The more unique it is, the more likely it will
find a place in this collection. Binding your
Untruth
to historical fact
is always a good idea, as it makes the reader question
the ‘reality’ of the
Untruth.
-
The Untruths
should be told in either prose, poetry or short fiction
