AFTERNIGHT . . .

In September 1897, I travelled to the small town of Sabbath, England to bury my brother. He was the victim of an unholy alliance between Sabbath and the ghostly apparition that has haunted the town for centuries.

With each step of my investigation, I was pulled deeper into the Afternight, a world beyond the borders of our own trepidation. I documented the experiences in my Journal – writing them down while ruled by uncertainty and turmoil - leaving to the wayside the elegant syntax of the scholar and instead, remaining true to my own predilections: I am Inspector Ryman Rogue with the Canadian North West Mounted Police and these are my words . . .

  about the author:

Rumours support the theory that the elusive horror writer, Christian Heindl, is alive and well. Historical data revealed he was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario where he attended Laurentian university and obtained his BA. He married his high school sweetheart, Maria and apparently has two strapping sons, Nicholas and Jonathan. Studies indicate he lived in Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Ajax and in 1999 moved to North Bay.
Scientists believe by day he is a dedicated and hard-working Insurance Adjuster; by night a fiction writer, preferring the supernatural realm, although he has also apparently dabbled in psychological thrillers. Records support the position taken by experts that he has written creatively all his life, penning his first horror novel at the tender but warped age of 15. His parents may have wondered where they went wrong?
The novel (written in long hand) was entitled THE REAPPEARANCE OF DRACULA, and was apparently a sequel to the classic horror novel, DRACULA. It became the foundation for the strange creative pattern his life would follow.
He continued to write and produced various manuscripts which produced cabinets full of rejections. In that time he also developed and taught a creative writing workshop at Cambrian College in Sudbury and was a member of the Sudbury Writers Guild where he made several presentations on the horror genre.
It was about 1991 when a literary agent from Salt Lake City, Utah liked his work and agreed to represent him. Unfortunately, she retired a year later without selling his work.
Did he burn his typewriter? Did he run naked into the bush screaming? Experts believe it only made his strange mind more determined and he became a writing madman, producing even more novels, all of which allegedly take place in Northern Ontario and all of which continued to be rejected. It s believed he has written, at least,  ten manuscripts.
Out of desperation, he considered self-publishing but that all changed when, as a lark, he entered the Wyn Lit Short Story Contest in early 2006. His entry, A Portrait of Rose was published as an honorable mention. Ironically, researchers believe, Christian never really considered himself a short story writer, although he had penned many of them. His passion continued to encompass his novels, two of which are presently in the hands of Wynterblue Publishing. Rumours have it that he continues to enter the Wyn Lit 24 hour Short Story Contest and has recently earned his second win.
Presently, the whereabouts of this strange and elusive author are sketchy, but the experts speculate he is still living somewhere in North Bay, Ontario where he continues to write the weird and macabre and is currently working on a collection of Gothic horror stories. Of course, this is just speculation, as there have been no recent sightings of this unusual creative creature.
